What a Dilemma

I am having a very hard time getting ready to say goodbye to Remington. So hard in fact, that I am thinking about selling my two year old filly in order to buy Rem. I only have $500 to spend though, and I have no idea what these horses will go for...

I was talking to my mom, asking for advice and she wasn't much help. I asked her, "Mom, if you had to sell me or Dustin (my brother), which one would you sell??" She didn't answer...

My plan is to fill out an adoption application and bid up to $500. If I win Rem, I put my filly up for sale, and if someone outbids me, then I keep my filly and say farewell to Rem.

I suppose that is all I can do, and whatever happens is meant to be...

Awww, you've gotten attached :) It's hard not to. I think your plan is good.

Well it sounds like a good plan to me. If you get Rem it was meant to be. If not I am sure he will go to a good home. I have often been told that saying goodd-bye is a part of horsemanship and a skill that everyone should learn. I still haven't though and I really want you to get him so good luck!

Ah, Jess....I'm sorry. I've seen you fall in love and knew you'd be heading for heartbreak. Here's my tip; when you have to talk about him at the adoption, don't tell them how great he is. Find the nastiest stuff you can tell, like how he threw you! That's going to slow down the bidding. And remember that 20% is knocked off as your commission.

Mothers...they're never much help in these situations, lol! Can you borrow $100 bucks from a few different family members? Even $50? Can you take out a loan for another $500?

BIG HUGS to you!

You have written a great blog.....
I hope you get him for less than $500.
Maybe us Horsey Folks will let you keep him without having you sell your other horse.... We will respect the bond you have made.... Good Luck See you at the fair!

Jessie - We will all be watching and keeping our fingers crossed. Is there anyone else that might be willing to loan you the money? I am sure that Rem will miss you too.

I think it's wonderful that you want to bring Rem home with you. If you get out bid, would you adopt another wild mustang from the BLM and start the whole process over again?

I think you should take Tracey's advice! It's a tough one, hope you get him! You've worked so hard with him.

That sweet boy threw you? Hard to beleive. Tracy has some sound marketing advice--but I have to urge you to be always honest. Be true to yourself and to Remington. I do so hope you two get to stay together. But, Jessie what a huge gift you have given this horse by teaching him what he needs to go out into the world of humans and have a successfull and happy relationship with a new owner!! Bravo to you girl!

Oh Jessie, what a f***ing hard decision! I agree with ell's comment there that even if you don't get to keep him, you've given him such a gift & he'll make someone blissfully happy. As you know, I'm very much in love with Rem, all the way from Australia! Who else could resist?

Please keep us up to date with what's happening, & please keep blogging! I'd love to hear about your filly & her story too.

Hugs,
Jules
