Happy Easter!!

Well I hope everyone had a great Easter, I am stuffed, I always eat to much on days like this...

This week's video shows our new style of mounting as well as the gate work. I really wanted to work the gate outside, but we got more SNOW on Friday. I can't believe this winter... wait, it's Spring now, Wisconsin just doesn't know it yet. I was going to include the spin, but after reviewing it, I've still got my work cut out for me. Remington is pretty much all over, so I've got to slow him down and show him where his feet belong before asking for speed. It's getting pretty nerve-wracking with only 25 days left!!

I still am not sure what I would do for my finals if I made it into the top 10, but I am not going to worry about it. There are so many awesome trainers in this competition, that my chances are pretty slim. I do have music picked out though, just in case!

Enjoy the video!

Hey I love the new mounting!!!! He is doing much better with the gate Jess JOLLY GOOD JOB!!!!

Thank you Nancy! I love hearing from anyone who is reading my blog!!

Jess, he is getting really good at the gate, but being the trail "expert" that I am, I'm still working at it. I want him to know how to do the gate all 4 ways, push through, pull through, push back through and pull back through. :-)

Too bad they won't have a gate in the competition.

Oh, but be so happy that you've got a covered place to ride, small though it may be! We had more rain today...a bucket that I'd left sitting out had three inches of water in it by the end of the day. Just plain wet, it is.

No gate in the competition? Really? But I love gates...sniff...

Really looking forward to the play by play once you return. I'm sure you and Rem will be fine. And isn't it just a blessing to be part of this? Such an incredible opportunity to meet and learn from a vast array of other trainers!

Hiya Jessie ,

As you can see I have added some of your competition to the Latest Posts Horses Posts blog roll, I am afraid I can only add those who have RSS feeds but did manage to add 5 .

If you like I can create a little widget for you guys and gals just with those competitors Latest 5 posts

They will stay on blog roll until they stop posting for 30 days so if just for the comp they will disappear a month or so later.

You are one smart horse trainer looks good in the videos

Callie and I will be coming to watch you and cheer you on The Finals on Saturday , But not on the sunday during auction much to tempting to Callie

All the best
Steve and Callie

Tracy, I wish there was a gate, but I don't think it is one of the required obstacles. Maybe they will use it for the competition in Fort Worth?

Steve and Callie,
Thanks for the comments, be sure to introduce yourselves if you catch me! I'm sure I'll be hanging around Remington's stall quite a bit.

Steve, a widget for the Makeover competitors would be awesome!! Tracey, from Mustang Diaries has a pretty good list of bloggers for the Western States challenge as well!

I had a brain storm....what about putting Rem in a bosal????

You should pick out more than music, 'cause Remington is doing great. Sure there are a bunch of super fancy trainers coming to Madison but this is about horses and horses are pretty unpredictable. Those fancy trainers might have less than fancy rides. Be ready for the finals and super success!!

The bad part about your Blog is that I realize that there are only 23 DAYS LEFT until we all meet! How fun, but how scarry...... Love your countdown!

Beth, I tried Rem in a bosal and he got pretty confused. I would pull one way and he would try to go the other. I don't think my bosal really fit him good though, so maybe I should look into finding a better one.

Katee, thanks for the vote of confidence!!

Dena, he is a pretty special mustang, but I think we all must think that of our horses!!

Hey Girl, sorry I haven't been here for a bit. Y'all are doing GREAT! I do have a problem tho. I've totally fallen for Remy. Wish I could come up to see y'all compete. And really wish I could buy him. Seriously, I got it bad for that guy!! You are doing a great job Jess. Wish TX wasn't so far from up there. Keep up the good work and give the boy a hug for me!

sorry for yet another comment! have you ever heard the song "How bout them cowgirls" by George Strait? I can just see y'all in the ring with that playin! Night Jess and Remy

Thank you Nativetxan! I wish you could make it up here. Just hitch a ride with one of the Mustang Heritage Foundation crew, they're from Texas!!

I am trying to work on a plan to keep Rem, but I'm not sure if it will work out. It involves either selling my 2 year old or paying board... not sure I like the looks of either one. Not to mention, I'm not sure if I will be able to compete with everyone else in the auction itself. I think he'd have to stay under $500 for me to afford him!! Oh well, I know it will all work out in the end, I'm just not sure how.

Wow!! You've been working hard!! That is so awesome, Remi is just coming along so well!!!
I'm thinking I need to teach a few of my horses to do that when I need to get on..
Great great job, you are really rockin along. I can't wait to see what happens at the Challenge!!! You're gonna do great! Go for the Top 10, you can do it!!

Thanks Mikey!! I am going to do my best to get some video of my patterns in the challenge so I can update my blog every night during the Horse Fair for those of you who can't make it!!
